How online booking works
The customer visits the online booking system, selects one or more products and completes the form with all the information required for the company to process the order correctly (name, address, etc.). If the customer chooses to pay online by credit card, the booking summary page will display the total amount of the order together with a button that redirects the customer to the secure payment page hosted on Banca Sella’s secure server.
The payment page will contain a dedicated form displaying the merchant’s name, the currency and the purchase amount. The customer will then select the type of credit card and enter the card number, issue date, expiry date, the cardholder’s name and an e-mail address. The entry of sensitive information (cardholder details and credit card number) is carried out securely using SSL protocol and 128-bit encryption, ensuring maximum protection for the customer.
Banca Sella collects the transaction details (card information and amount) and forwards them to the international authorisation networks, using the same procedures as payments made through physical POS terminals.
The international card networks contact the institution that issued the card and, once a positive or negative response to the credit card authorisation request has been received, communicate the outcome to Banca Sella.
Banca Sella then communicates the outcome of the payment request in real time to both the customer and the merchant. The customer receives the result through a page displayed in a new browser window showing the order details, while the merchant is notified simultaneously.
The Banca Sella server then redirects the customer to the merchant’s server, where a further confirmation of the order outcome is displayed through a response page on the online booking system.
At the same time, the Banca Sella server sends two e-mails, one to the merchant and one to the customer, summarising the transaction details: the online store identification code, the date and time of the transaction, the amount and the outcome of the transaction itself.
