The company
VETOR was founded in 1971 by its founder, Torquato Vecchiarelli, whose maritime activity began in 1944.
After gaining experience during the 1970s with chartered vessels, the company purchased its first owned hydrofoil in 1981, a KOMETA model built at the Soviet shipyards in Odessa. Since then, VETOR has operated the Anzio–Ponza route, later extending its services, also in partnership with SNAV of Messina, to the islands of Ventotene, Ischia and Procida, as well as to the port of Naples.
In 1988, the company acquired a second Soviet-built hydrofoil, a KOLKHIDA model equipped with powerful German MTU engines.
In 1990, VETOR launched the Formia–Ponza–Ventotene route, initially using a leased KOMETA hydrofoil and later, in 1991, expanding its fleet with a third hydrofoil identical to the previous one (KOLKHIDA).
The company is also active in other areas of the maritime sector. Its fleet includes twelve tanker vessels, some specialised in the transport of food-grade liquids and others featuring double hulls for the transport of chemical products.
VETOR has also supported various local and national sports organisations, including the BU-SEN Artistic Gymnastics Association of Nettuno (Serie A1), Anzio women’s volleyball team (Serie B1), Anzio men’s water polo team (Serie A1), Anzio baseball team (Serie A1), and SS Lazio football club (Serie A).
