FAQ

Booking Changes

Passengers may request an additional booking change which, subject to payment of a €10.00 penalty per passenger ticket, may be accepted subject to availability and no later than 2 working days before departure.

Passengers may cancel their booking up to 8 days before the scheduled hydrofoil departure. If the cancellation is made within this time limit, Vetor Aliscafi will issue a non-refundable voucher (Open Voucher), valid during the year of issue and redeemable by the passenger for the same type of journey.

Booking cancellations and changes can be requested by telephone on +39 06 9845083 (Monday to Friday from 09:30 to 12:30 and from 15:30 to 17:30).

Refunds

The only refund available, limited to the ticket price, applies when a hydrofoil service is cancelled due to technical reasons or adverse weather conditions. In these cases, passengers may also request to reschedule their booking or receive a non-refundable Open Voucher, valid during the year of issue and redeemable for the same route. If the hydrofoil does not depart due to the Captain’s decision – because of adverse weather conditions or technical issues – you may request a refund by completing the form available in the Forms section of this website or by collecting it from the ticket office.

If the ticket was purchased online, by telephone or at the ticket office without collecting the boarding pass before departure, the refund request must be sent to rimborsi@vetor.it or by post to Vetor Aliscafi – P.O. Box 144 – 00042 Anzio (RM), enclosing the refund request form available in the “Forms” section together with the booking confirmation e-mail. If the ticket was purchased online or by telephone using a credit card, the request must be submitted by the credit card holder who made the purchase. Refunds will be processed by credit card reversal to the card used for the booking or by bank transfer if the ticket was purchased in advance at the ticket office by POS payment or cash.

We apologise if, during the summer season, refund procedures may take longer due to the increased operational workload.

Complaints

Customers are kindly informed that, only after submitting a complaint directly to VETOR S.r.l., Via Porto Innocenziano 49, 00042 Anzio (RM) by post to Vetor Aliscafi, P.O. Box 144, 00042 Anzio (RM) or by e-mail to reclami@vetor.it, and after sixty days have elapsed from the date of submission (for journeys departing from Italian ports or arriving in Italy from non-EU ports), it is possible to refer the matter to the Italian Transport Regulation Authority, pursuant to Regulation (EU) No. 1177/2010 on the rights of passengers travelling by sea and inland waterways. Check in

Check-in: Deadline – 30 minutes before departure

Check-in must be completed no later than 30 minutes before departure. During the high season and especially at weekends, travel times along the SS148 “Pontina”, SS601 “Ostia–Anzio”, SS207 “Nettunense”, as well as on the roads leading to the port, may be longer than expected. Please also allow time for possible parking difficulties. We recommend planning your journey with enough time to arrive at the check-in point before the deadline.

Please remember that there is always a possibility of your journey being cancelled or delayed.

> Information Notice

  • Check before travelling that your booking has been correctly registered for your chosen date and departure time.
  • Go to the ticket office to collect your boarding pass. A valid identity document must be presented to the check-in staff when collecting your ticket.
Please note: if the person collecting the ticket(s) is not the holder of the credit card used for the online booking, they must present a written authorisation signed by the cardholder together with a photocopy of the cardholder’s identity document.
Keep your ID readily available, as ticket office staff may need to verify your identity. Since bookings are issued in the passenger’s name, the onboard staff may also request proof of identity if necessary.
  • Declare the number of items of luggage you are carrying. Please note that the onboard staff will verify the number of bags at boarding. Any discrepancy between the luggage paid for and the luggage presented for boarding will require you to return to the ticket office.
  • Present your travel ticket by showing the QR code on your boarding pass to the staff at the hydrofoil entrance before boarding.

Please remember to keep all boarding passes you have collected, as they are required when requesting a refund in the event of a cancellation, especially for the return journey from the island due to adverse sea and weather conditions. You should also provide the ticket office staff with a telephone number that you will be using while on the island, so that the company can contact you if your service is cancelled.

Luggage
  • Each passenger may carry one item of luggage with maximum dimensions of 50 × 30 × 15 cm, containing personal belongings only.
  • Excess luggage is subject to the applicable fares.
  • Luggage and other items are accepted ONLY when accompanying the passenger.
  • For safety reasons, dangerous goods cannot be transported.
  • All luggage must be declared and paid for at check-in.
  • Please note that scuba diving cylinders may only be transported if empty.

Our ticket office staff will be happy to assist you in determining how many items of luggage require a luggage ticket. Please remember that luggage will be checked during boarding, and any discrepancy between the number of luggage tickets purchased and the number of items actually carried will require you to return to the ticket office to purchase the additional luggage tickets.

Information Notice

Assistance for Passengers with Reduced Mobility

Our staff are specially trained to provide assistance to Passengers with Reduced Mobility (PRM), including both wheelchair users and passengers with other mobility needs. However, your cooperation is appreciated. If you require boarding assistance or suitable seating on board, please notify us in advance by contacting our Call Centre (+39 06 9845083), by indicating your requirements during the online booking process, when purchasing your ticket, or when collecting your boarding pass at the port ticket office.

In all cases, passengers requiring assistance are requested to arrive at least 30 minutes before departure to allow sufficient time for assistance. Boarding will be given priority, with the support of dedicated staff.

Passengers classified as Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRM) include: wheelchair users due to illness or disability; passengers with limb impairments or walking difficulties; elderly passengers; pregnant women; blind or visually impaired passengers; deaf or hearing-impaired passengers; and passengers with intellectual disabilities.

The onboard services provided for Passengers with Reduced Mobility (PRM) are intended to help passengers choose the most suitable service and plan their journey according to their needs. Reserved seating is available on board for PRMs who are not wheelchair users, as well as accessible toilet facilities for PRMs who are not wheelchair users. Please note that accessible toilet facilities for wheelchair users are not available on board.

Invoicing

An invoice must be requested before the ticket is issued. It is not possible to issue an invoice after the booking or ticket has been completed.

When booking online, a dedicated section allows you to enter the information required for invoicing before completing your ticket purchase.

Information Notice

Risk of Hydrofoil Journey Delay or Extension

The main, and perhaps the only, risk associated with travelling by hydrofoil is the possibility that the service may be cancelled. Due to the way hydrofoils operate—at high speed with the hull completely lifted above the water—they are more affected by adverse sea conditions than conventional ferries.

As wave height increases, the hydrofoil must reduce speed for safety reasons, operating with the hull no longer fully raised above the water. As a result, the vessel would travel at approximately one-third of its normal cruising speed, exposing passengers to prolonged discomfort caused by the sea conditions. Under such circumstances, the service is generally cancelled.

As you may arrive at the departure pier only to learn that all scheduled departures have been cancelled due to rough sea conditions, we recommend checking the local marine weather forecast in advance. If you still wish to travel, you may also wish to consider alternative services operated by conventional ferries departing from Anzio or other ports (for example, connections from Formia).
